The Mission of Vipers Girls Hockey is to empower girls to skate and play ice hockey thus promoting healthy lifestyles for more productive, healthy, and happy lives.

The focus is on long-term development rather than on short-term success. The goals are to:

  • Provide an opportunity for female players to play all-girl hockey.
  • Retain and develop a pool of players.
  • Create a supportive and positive girl-centric environment for learning the techniques, systems, and strategies of the female hockey game.
  • Develop on-ice skills, off-ice conditioning, well-body practices, positive thinking, goal-orientated behaviors, and the knowledge needed to progress.
  • Instill hard work and dedication while having fun and fostering a love of the game.

The Pittsburgh Vipers Girls Hockey program will offer several unique features typically reserved for higher level programs:

  1. Individual attention to player development, including skills sessions with NHAHA Director of Hockey Development.
  2. Emphasize goal setting approach to individual & team training.
  3. Focus on long-term athlete development.
  4. Use comprehensive self-guided off-ice training programs.
  5. Train on ice strengthing skills of skating, shooting, passing.

Come Play Vipers Girls Hockey and Experience More Great Moments!

Christy Pastucha, Head Coach

Christy has  been involved in the game of hockey for 19 years now from playing, mentoring younger players and coaching. Growing up she played both Ice and Dek hockey, from playing on girls to coed teams and most of the time multiple teams. Christy has played every position but goalie, she loves it  all but she prefers offense. She would play for PAHL, School district and Tier I. These teams ranged from Plum school district, Lady Badgers, Vipers, and Pittsburgh Elite. She then continued to onto college hockey playing Club for Slippery Rock University.  As for coaching she started with the Lady Badgers, she was a student coaching helping out with the U14 team as she was playing for the U19 team. While Christy was playing for Pittsburgh Elite, and helped coach the  Pittsburgh Elite U12 into Nationals, winning 3rd place. That same year she also coached Plum Freshman, they continued to the playoffs that season. Took a break from coaching and focused on schooling. Once Christy graduated she started coaching again at the Vipers organization with the girls team and has been assistant coach for the past three years. Christy has also helped with the Steel City Selects U19 girls team coaching them to Nationals in 2016. Christy loves that she has played for the Vipers before and being able to give back to the organization. This season she is the Head Coach and she hopes to continue to bring more and more girls into the organization and help them grow on and off the ice.
