The Esmark Stars, proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), are pleased to announce that 18U forward Caleb Ernst has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Johnstown Tomahawks. The Tomahawks compete in the NAHL’s Eastern Division.

Ernst, a native of Overland Park, KS, finished fourth in scoring in NAPHL play for the Stars during the 2015-16 season as he netted 14 points (8 goals, and 6 assists) in 25 games played. Overall, he tallied 25 points (8 goals and 17 assists) in 63 games played for the U18 Stars.

"Caleb is a big strong kid that has the size and game to do well as the NAHL level," said Stars AAA U18 head coach Dave Kosick. "Combine his size with his physical game and you have a prototypical power forward."

Ernst has been selected to participate in the 2016 NAPHL Top Prospects Tournament, which takes place May 13-15 in Edina, MN.

"Caleb is a big, power forward-type player with big potential,” Tomahawks head coach Mike Letizia said. “He is willing to battle for pucks and go to the net for scoring opportunities.”

“Caleb joined Esmark with a purpose … to give himself the best opportunity to make a Junior A club. He was driven and dedicated to that purpose and worked hard," Kosick added.

"He, like others before him, demonstrated that that if you put in the work, stay focused on your goals, and skate for a club that gives you maximum opportunity to be seen … you can make dreams come true."

A tender is a contract  a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team.
