NAPHL recognizes scholar athletes

Dallas, TX - Three members of the 2015-16 Esmark Stars U18 AAA team have been named to the North American Prospect Hockey League (NAPHL) 18U All-NAPHL Academic Team for the 2015-16 season.

Ben Friedland (Fox Chapel High School), Michael Lamison (Westmont Hilltop High School), and Max Milan (Baldwin High School) were honored for their scholastic accomplishments.

All three Stars players exceeded a 4.0 GPA and participate in advanced honors classes.

"We nominated more players than league rules allow," said program director Dave Kosick. "and while I am extremely proud of the three selected, I am also proud of all of our student athletes and their academic accomplishments.

"I applaud their efforts both on and off the ice."

Players nominated by Esmark to the league for consideration for this award, must exceed a rigorous standard that not only includes accomplishment in the classroom, but also includes commitment to a high level travel program.

"Our players have never asked for special dispensation," Kosick added. "Rather we expect at the very least for them to meet, and honestly exceed, expected standards for their respective schools."

To qualify for the All-NAPHL Academic Team, student-athletes must achieved certain academic standards, set by each program, during the 2015-16 school year and must have been nominated by a coach.
