Tomahawks Select Stars D-Man in NAHL Draft

The Johnstown Tomahawks selected Ty Rickabaugh, defenseman, Esmark Stars U16 AAA, during the fifth round (97rd overall) of the annual NAHL Draft, held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015.

Rickabaugh appeared in 22 regular season and playoff North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) games for the 16U Stars during the 2014-15 season, recording 8 points (2 goals and 6 assists)  including 4 power play assists ... and 90 penalty minutes.

A senior to be at Westmont Hilltop High School, Rickabaugh will join Esmark U18 forward Jon Dagnal, who was tendered by the Tomahawks, and several other current and former Esmark players in battling for a roster spot with the Tomahawks at Johnstown's main camp.

A native of Sidman, PA, Rickabaugh was the final selection of Tomahawks during the league's annual draft.

"He's a tough, hard-nosed, gritty defenseman," Tomahawks head coach Mike Letitizia said of Rickabauagh.  "He has shown that he has the ability to compete at this level.'

"Ty has attracted attention from all of the top Junior leagues in North America," said 18U Stars head coach Dave Kosick.  "He has impressed both scouts and coaches in the OHL, USHL and NAHL.  His style of play not only opens the eyes of opponents, but also those of decision makers."
