Three U18 Esmark Stars Selected

The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) has announce the rosters for the inaugural NAPHL 18U All-Star Game to be held on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, 7:15pm, at the Troy Sports Center in Troy, Michigan.

Esmark's Adam Alavi, forward, Carter Ekberg, defenseman, and Scott Trellis, goaltender, were selected by the NAPHL to represent Esmark in the game.

The number of players represented by each NAPHL 18U team was based on each team’s winning percentage in the NAPHL 18U standings as of Dec. 9, 2014.  The Madison Capitols and Anaheim Ducks were each awarded four players; while the Esmark Stars, Omaha AAA, New Jersey Jr. Titans, Lansing Capitals, HC Dallas and California Titans each had three players tabbed; the St. Louis Selects, San Jose Jr. Sharks, Pursuit of Excellence, Pikes Peak Miners, West Michigan Hounds and Arizona Bobcats, each received two players; and the Minnesota Revolution and Philadelphia Little Flyers each had one player named.

The 18U All-Star Game is a part of the NAPHL’s fifth and final regular season event of the season, which will feature all 32 NAPHL teams, each playing in five regular season games from Jan. 16-19 at the Troy Sports Center in Troy, MI. The event will also see the continuation of the Bantam Tournament Series (BTS), which features the Esmark Stars U14 team.

Players that were considered for the 18U All-Star Game selection process were nominated by each of the NAPHL's 18U head coaches. The NAPHL staff then selected the teams, with additional input and consultation from Coordinator of Player Personnel Craig Barnett and the NAPHL Event Scouting System.

“We have had an overwhelming and positive response from the 16U All-Star Game the past two seasons from everyone involved, which made the decision to add an 18U All-Star Game an easy one,” said NAHL and NAPHL Commissioner Mark Frankenfeld. “The game will showcase some of the best 18 and under hockey talent in the Nation and we continue to maintain our commitment to our teams that each club has fair representation at the event based upon their performance to date.”

All games at the event in Troy, including the NAPHL 18U All-Star Game, will be broadcast live over the Internet through FASTHockey.

Like it has the past four NAPHL events, the NAHL Event Scouting System will continue in Troy. The Event Scouting System is lead by Craig Barnett, Coordinator of Player of Personnel for both the NA3HL and NAPHL. Barnett’s primary role is to coordinate the scouting at all NA3HL and NAPHL events, and to promote player advancement and to supply information to NAHL, NCAA and other junior and collegiate coaches.
