Allen Selected NAPHL Peak Performer

Stars Defenseman Honored for Play in Blane, MN

The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) has announced its Apex Learning Virtual School Peak Performers for the month of December.  The players were selected based on the their performance at the NAPHL's forth event of the season, which took place in Blaine, MN, Dec. 5 - 8, 2014.

Esmark Stars defenseman Nic Allen, was named the 16U Apex Peak Performer - Defenseman for the event.

Fellow Esmark defenseman Cole Barney was selected  as the third star - defenseman for the same showcase.  Barney was selected first star for his performance at the league's showcase in Romeoville, IL, Oct. 17-20, 2014.

“Nic had a nice opening weekend with us in Blaine," offered Esmark U16 Head Coach Yuri Krivokhija.  "As a team we focused on playing stronger on the defensive side of the ice and Nic and the rest of the defensive group helped us to a successful event."

Seeing his first action of the season for the Esmark 16U team, Allen, 16, a junior at Warren High School in Warren, PA, made an immediate impact on the club in Blaine as the Stars kept pace with the leaders in the 16U playoff race with a 4-1-0-0 record.

The native of Russell, PA, managed to register at least a point in four of the five games and totaled six points, including one goal and five assists. Allen (165 lbs., 5’9") began the event with a goal and an assist in a 8-3 win over San Jose.  Later that day, he recorded two assists in a 7-2 win over Pikes Peak.  He did not register a point in Esmark’s lone loss, a 3-2 decision to Pursuit of Excellence.  He finished the event by picking up assists in wins over both Arizona and Green Bay. 

NAHL Event Scouting Report on Allen: “Played well in his first event and showed a lot of poise with the puck. Able to contribute offensively and adds depth to an already strong defensive line-up.”

The NAPHL is comprised of five regular-season events leading up to its Championship Tournament Series in which the top teams in each division compete for a league championship. The fifth NAPHL event of the 2014-15 season will take place from Jan. 16-19, 2015 at the Troy Sports Center in Troy, Michigan. The event will feature all 32 NAPHL teams (16 U16 and 16 U18 squads).
