SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced today that Elliot Lake Wildcats forward Cole Hepler has been named the Gongshow Gear Inc. player of the month for October.

In nine games last month, the 19-year-old native of Pittsburgh, PA, averaged two points per contest for the first-year Wildcats.

In that span Hepler had eight goals and doled out 10 assists for Elliot Lake in accumulating 18 points.

Seven of those points came in three match-ups vs. the top two teams in the league standings, the Soo Thunderbirds and Kirkland Lake Gold Miners.
He also etched his name on the score sheet in eight of the nine overall contests he skated in.

The Wildcats forward is also currently riding a four-game point streak and his 25 total points lead his club and tie him for sixth in NOJHL scoring.

For his efforts Hepler will receive a prize pack courtesy of Gongshow Gear, the official lifestyle hockey apparel of the NOJHL.

Hepler, who skated the past two seasons for the Pittsburgh-based Esmark Stars Midget Major AAA Club, led the 2013-14 Stars in scoring with 90 points (46 goals and 44 assists) and tallied 56 points (28 goals and 28 assists) in 57 games for the Stars during the 2012-13 season.
